MAKING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT SMARTER AND GREENER

ABOUT
The New York Tech's Energy and Green Technologies Laboratory is a living lab opened in April 2019 under the Department of Energy Management. It represents a real-world environment and it provides students with hands-on experience in energy and green technology disciplines. Energy generation, storage, and conservation methods are studied in this lab under the following areas:
-
Physics-based building energy modeling (BEM) through commercial simulation tools and building information modeling (BIM).
-
Decision-making units in energy-smart buildings.
-
Design and evaluation of zero-net-energy (ZNE) buildings.
-
Data-driven building energy modeling through machine learning techniques.
-
Modeling and evaluating different energy retrofit approaches.
-
Application of multi-functional sensors in collecting environmental data for data-driven energy modeling.
-
Analysis of high-performance building enclosure based on building science.
-
Application of hydrogen fuel cells as an energy storage system coupled with solar energy.
